The Accounting Department is an unmarked location within the Executive Sector of the Oldest House, located between the Cafeteria and Central Executive. This is the site of the Accounting Department, a subdivision of the Federal Bureau of Control which manages its financials.

Background

As a federal agency, the Bureau's primary funding source is the United States federal government. The Accounting Department's main responsibility is to track and compile the Bureau's expenses in order to manage its budget and make suitable budget requests to the government. As part of this process, the department collects expense reports from all of the Bureau's employees and operatives and also releases quarterly fiscal reports. The department also reimburses employees for job-related expenses, although the Oldest House's mail tube system occasionally hinders this system.

Layout

The Accounting Department is a single large office room above the Cafeteria. Because the other doorway from Central Executive to the Cafeteria is blocked, the only way to reach the Cafeteria is to pass through this room. The bodies of various Bureau personnel are strewn about inside this room and outside, near the Nostalgia Department. When initially in this location during Unknown Caller, several Hiss Guards are patrolling the Cafeteria balcony outside. On later visits, other Hiss enemies may spawn.

This location contains one loot crate and one collectible (Travel Costs), both of which are found in the large square part of the room.

Notes

This area is not specifically labelled as the Accounting Department in-game. The game's files reference a location called the "Accounting Lobby Cafeteria Junction", indicating that the Accounting Department is near the Cafeteria, and the only location which fits this description is the one listed above.
