Black Rock is a material which is found in the Quarry Threshold. It is valuable to the Federal Bureau of Control due to its ability to dampen the effects of paranatural phenomena.
Description[]
As its name implies, Black Rock is a rock or stone-like substance of a blackish color. It possesses a property which enables it to block out a wide range of paranatural frequences (resonance). Because most if not all paranatural phenomena are rooted in these frequencies and their effect on reality, Black Rock can dampen or even block the effects of these phenomena.
Because of this, Black Rock is extremely valuable to the Federal Bureau of Control, particularly in terms of containment of paranatural phenomena. The Bureau constructed Firebreaks in the Oldest House made out of Black Rock, which act as barriers between sectors and regions of the House intended to prevent the violent spread of paranatural forces. They are also used to reinforce the containment cells of Altered Items and Objects of Power.
Black Rock is found exclusively in the Quarry Threshold, located in the Maintenance Sector. The Bureau mines it extensively at this site.

- Black Rock was inspired by the mineral magnetite, which is used in real-world applications for radioactive shielding. Historically, magnetite has also been referred to as 'lodestone' and used for divination purposes.
