The Director's Office is a location in the Executive Sector of the Oldest House. It is the office of the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control.
Background[]
This room in the Executive Sector serves as the office of the FBC's director, who most recently was Zachariah Trench. The Hotline, an Object of Power innately tied to the director, was first discovered in the Director's Office.[1] The Service Weapon, another Object of Power associated with the director's role, is also claimed to have been found in the office, but this is known to be untrue.[2][3]
During the Hiss invasion, Trench killed himself in his office with the Service Weapon, with his body being found by Jesse Faden moments later.[4] Jesse Faden subsequently became the FBC's director via the Service Weapon's ritual and the office was made hers.
Layout[]
The Director's Office is a large, mostly empty room holding the desk of the FBC's director. Two of the walls are lined with shelves holding pictures and other memorabilia related to the former director, Zachariah Trench. The wall behind the desk holds an opening which lights up the room. Initially, there is only entrance to the Director's Office in the hallway between Executive Affairs and Central Executive, but at the end of Unknown Caller, a new tunnel opens up which connects the Director's Office to the Hotline Chamber.
Certain minor changes are made to the Director's Office over the course of Control's main story. The body of Zachariah Trench stays in the office and is removed at the end of Unknown Caller, at which point a Collectible is also added to the room (see below.) At the end of Take Control, the final main story mission, the nameplate on the director's desk is updated to read "Jesse Faden" rather than "Zachariah Trench."
Collectibles[]
