That piece of shit blew up those tracks. He killed those people, all to make a train turn altered. We have him dead to rights and you need to let me back in that interrogation cell so I can get him to flip on his buddies. These people are terrorists and deserve to be treated as such. This won't stop unless we stop them.

— Agent Hewitt, Interrogation Complaint

The Eagle Limited AWE (AWE-44) was an Altered World Event which occurred in Bloomington, Illinois, on May 25, 2015. It resulted in the discovery of the Eagle Limited Train Car Altered Item and was the subject of an ongoing Federal Bureau of Control investigation before 2017.

Events[]

Background[]

In May 2015, Bureau intelligence suggested that a paracriminal group known to operate in the American Midwest was planning to imminently initiate a large-scale paranatural event in Bloomington. As such, Bureau agents were dispatched to the area, tracking the group. On May 25, the group carried out its plan, sabotaging a section of railroad tracks to cause a train derailment which led to 62 casualties and numerous injuries. A Bureau response team in the area reached the site within minutes and found equipment left behind by the group. They also noticed a suspect, but were ultimately unable to reach him before he escaped.

The agents' primary investigation of the site revealed that one of the derailed train's cars had become altered with a "persistent auditory event," and the newly dubbed Eagle Limited Train Car Altered Item was taken back to the Bureau and held in its Investigations Sector for study.

Response[]

Knowing the perpetrators' primary area of operation, the Bureau worked with the FBI to track the group, eventually leading to the arrest of a suspect who was brought in for questioning. Said questioning, conducted by Agent Hewitt, was less an interrogation and more torture by confinement and starvation; the suspect was locked in a cell without food, and eventually confessed to being part of the group, also informing on other group members. Though effective, this violated the Paracriminal Rights Act, leading William Kirklund to suspend Hewitt from the case entirely.

By 2017, the Bureau was still actively investigating the AWE, with an entire wing of the Investigations Sector dedicated to its study. However, this was lost after the Shaded Emil Hartman broke containment, leading the Bureau to seal off the majority of the sector; the Eagle Limited Train Car and research wing were abandoned.
