Keystone is a town in the United States of America. A paranatural event suspected of being an AWE occurred in the town, referred to on this site as the Keystone AWE.

Background[]

Gruman and Morales, a pair of FBC agents with spotty records, disappeared in the town and were suspected of deserting. A team of field agents led by Lisa Keenum were later dispatched to investigate a separate AWE but were asked by William Kirklund to stop at Keystone on the way to investigate the potential desertion. By the time the Bureau agents arrived at Keystone, the AWE was already over. Similar to what happened during the Ordinary AWE, the town's residents were all missing, but instead of just adults it was the whole population. When the FBC were investigating the town, the only clue they found was a marking on various buildings, consisting of two overlapping circles with a dot in the shared space.[1]

The Operations Center of the Investigations Sector holds a Bureau monitoring station for Keystone, indicating that the Bureau had already marked the town as a location of interest before 2017.

Notes[]

  • The U.S. state in which Keystone is located is not mentioned in Control. In fact, even the Bureau monitoring station in the Operations Center does not list Keystone's state, unlike every other station in the room. In real life, "Keystone" is the name of at least 12 small towns and unincorporated communities across 11 different U.S. states.
  • The symbol of two overlapping circles with a dot in the shared space is identical to a symbol found on one of the closed doors of the Oceanview Motel; Datamining revealed the symbol's gamefile is stored as "Vanguard": codename for Remedy's unreleased project.
