“ | But since you're some sort of Altered Item whisperer, I've got a list of others for you to corral. My life just got a whole lot easier. |
” |
— Langston |
Langston's Runaways is a side mission in Control, given to Jesse Faden by Frederick Langston after she tells the Supervisor of the events leading to and following Phillip Philson's death on the fourth floor of the Panopticon.
Briefing[]
Langston asks Jesse to cleanse and retrieve the numerous Altered Items that have escaped from the Panopticon. He warns Jesse that their behavior has become erratic since the Hiss corrupted them.
Objectives[]
“ | Here, start with these. I'll see if there are any others missing while you're gone. | ” |
— Langston |
- Cleanse and contain the Japanese Paper Lantern (Sealed Threshold Hall)
- Cleanse and contain the Traffic Light (Panopticon)
- Cleanse and contain the Hand Chair (Medical Wing)
- Cleanse and contain the Moving Letters (Dead Letters)
- Return to Langston
“ | But those weren't all of the Altered Items missing from the Panopticon. | ” |
— Langston |
- Cleanse and contain the Flamingo (Sealed Threshold Corridor)
- Cleanse and contain the Mannequin (Prime Candidate Program)
- Cleanse and contain the Rubber Duck (Protective Studies)
- Return to Langston
Debriefing[]
Jesse contains every missing Altered Item on Langston's list. One of them translocates her to the Astral Plane, where she once again encounters Former.
Behind the scenes[]
Unused dialog lines for Jesse Faden indicate that the Wolff Globe was supposed to be the fourth – and missing – escaped Item during the second part of this mission, similar to how the first part requires finding four instead of only three Items. The lines can be found amidst other lines related to the three Items from that part and resemble her usual comments when finding one of them.
“ | The Globe. That's one of the Altered Items Langston is looking for. Holy shit! Stop bouncing! Ooph. I feel a little sick after that one. One less Altered Item loose in the Bureau.[1] |
