Multimedia: Large Scale HRA is one of the collectible video recordings in Control. In this unscripted recording, Dr. Casper Darling talks about the completion of a Large Scale HRA, and his next move from there.
Darling: "It's done. With just one large-scale HRA. It was an easy choice, no choice. It's there now. Protecting the most important thing from what's coming. I'll be there, inside. Locked in. Ready to be blown away. Commencing countdown, Major Tom. Ready for the journey - to be Bowman, flying into the Monolith. Ready to see... to understand."
- In this video, Dr. Darling references the 1969 song "Space Oddity" by David Bowie, and David Bowman from the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
- The Bowman reference refers to the events at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey in which the character encounters the Monolith, a construct built by extraterrestrial beings, experiencing phenomena transcending ordinary human comprehension.
- Though it has no bearing on the contextual meaning of both references in this video, David Bowie mentioned in an interview in 2003 that the song was actually inspired by the movie, rather than the commonly held interpretation that the song is about the American space missions held around the same time.
