Northlight (also referred to as the Northlight Engine or Northlight Remedy Storytelling Technology) is a proprietary game engine created by Remedy Entertainment, and the game engine utilized in Control.

Northlight was first utilized in Remedy's 2016 video game Quantum Break. Prior to this, Remedy also developed in-house engines for its previous titles Max Payne and Alan Wake, the latter referred to as the "Alan Wake Engine." Northlight boasts a next-generation physically-based render system with global illumination and particle lighting, as well as detailed facial and motion capture technology, and wide-scale destructive physics.
