Rangers are specially-trained agents of the Federal Bureau of Control who are tasked with Threshold reconnaissance and ground zero AWE response.
Hiss Rangers and airborne Hiss Rangers are FBC Rangers corrupted by the Hiss following its invasion of the Oldest House in 2019. Because they are the Bureau's best trained and equipped personnel, the Rangers are some of the most dangerous Hiss-corrupted staff.

Combat[]
Friendly Rangers (both static noncombatants and combat allies) use several types of weapons, including submachine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, and machine guns. Friendly Rangers can be found in the few FBC controlled areas of the Oldest House, but more often may be found in Personnel Protection side missions. Tactically, FBC Rangers can be hard to keep safe, as they often attempt to close width or flank enemies, which can put them in danger against large enemies like Hiss Troopers or close quarters enemies like Hiss Charged.
Deployed Rangers[]
Deployed Rangers can be found in the The Foundation and AWE expansion packs. Deployed Rangers can be summoned via intercom at certain predetermined locations, usually placed before large rooms with significant combat encounters. Deployed Rangers have considerably more health than Personnel Protection Rangers and Hiss Rangers, featuring a large health bar akin to mini-bosses variants of the Hiss Ranger. Deployed Rangers are able to teleport in order to follow Jesse to areas that are inaccessible by foot, but are limited to the area they're called in at and will not enter elevators.

Achievements and trophies[]
There is one achievement and trophy related specifically to Deployed Rangers, which is only available with The Foundation expansion or with the game's Ultimate Edition. Deployed Rangers can also be found in the AWE expansion, but the achievement cannot be obtained if one only has AWE.
