The Nail is the second story mission of Control's first expansion. It is preceded by The Foundation and followed by The Pyramid.
Obtaining[]
It is received when Jesse Faden returns from the Astral Plane at the end of the mission "The Foundation".
Overview[]
The order in which mission briefings for "The Nail" are added to the log, as well as the order of its objectives, depend on which of the two Abilities Jesse had chosen during the Astral Plane Challenge of the preceding mission, and will be different for Fracture and for Shape.
- Mission start (Shape)
- After gaining the Shape ability, Jesse is able to access remote areas of the Foundation.
- Warehouse complete
- Jesse explores the Warehouse, where the initial Bureau research team first studied the Oldest House. She completes the ritual found at its top.
- Collapsed Department complete
- Jesse discovers the Collapsed Department, a large section of the Containment Sector that has fallen into the Foundation. She completes the ritual found there.
- Mission start (Fracture)
- After receiving the Fracture ability, Jesse is able to access sealed areas of the Foundation.
- Deep Cavern complete
- Jesse explores the Cave System and its ancient markings. She completes the ritual found in its depths.
- Canyon Rim complete
- Jesse falls into the Astral Collision, a vast area of the Astral Plane that is merging with the Foundation. She completes the ritual found at its center.

- Complete the ritual in the Astral Plane (Foundation / Canyon Rim)
Rewards[]
For each of the four rituals that have to be completed during this mission, Jesse receives an uncommon Material, a rare Mod and four Ability Points – for a total of 4 Shifting Fragments, 4 Mods and 16 Ability Points. In addition, she learns the Ability she could not choose during the previous mission, The Foundation, be it either Shape or Fracture.
