2019 draws closer and closer, and with it, Control's unknown release date rapidly approaches. It could be anywhere from January to December, but the optimistic fans among us are hoping for a release sometime in the spring. The past few months have been an exciting stream of updates and revelations from Remedy, and we've learned more about Control than ever before in that time. Perhaps one of the most important was Control's main cast reveals: James McCaffrey - the legendary Max Payne - as Zachariah Trench , and Matthew Porretta , known as the voice of Alan Wake , as Dr. Casper Darling. So at least one of my Control theories has been confirmed. :)

The wiki has grown a lot since its initial creation. Though there aren't many people on it currently, I hope that it builds into a dedicated community after Control is released. A dedication to quality is necessary, in the spirit of Remedy. I want this wiki to be a source of reliable information about Control, with accuracy to the content in the game, and any expanded media it may have (i.e. Alan Wake's comics). Of course, that means that all of the information currently on the wiki - based entirely on pre-release information - is tentative and, on some level, "non-canon." I'd prefer to call it "proto-canon," though. I've tried to be very careful about only including information that's been confirmed or at least directly implied in interviews and articles about Control.
Still, there's a little wiggle room. Take the Altered World Events article, for example. Though AWEs have only been mentioned and vaguely alluded to in Control so far, Remedy fans knew about AWEs for a long time - they were mentioned in the expanded media of Alan Wake, and the term first appeared fully in Quantum Break. This once again reinforces the theory that Control is something Remedy has been planning, in one way or another, for a long time. In my opinion, it was originally part of the Alan Wake universe, but became its own thing due to the complications surrounding the current Alan Wake game franchise. We'll see for ourselves the AWEs and their possible connections to Remedy lore when Control is finally released, but for now, it's sufficient to acknowledge directly that AWEs aren't a new thing by any means. It would be unjust to not point out their history in the article.
