What a Mess: Clear the Clog is a side mission in Control. It is unlocked after starting Old Boys' Club.

Walkthrough[]
To start this mission, visit the Janitor's Office in the Maintenance Sector after completing Directorial Override. The corkboard on the wall will have a new task on the bottom right; picking it up will give Jesse the mission. Head to the NSC Coolant Pumps and look for a door on the southeast side of the area, near the location of the Collectible Clog Complaint; this door is locked until this mission starts.
Inside the Pump Station, the Clog can be seen pulsating under a grate, which protects it from Jesse's attacks. To clear the Clog, the draining pump must be reactivated, which means the two Power Core sockets on this side of the room need to be filled. All of the doors in the Pump Station are shut and must be repowered using Power Cores, the first of which can be found by jumping over a cage to reach the south side of the room. Use the Power Core there to open a nearby closet and obtain a second core, then bring them both back to the north side of the room. This will power the draining pump, which can be found on the raised catwalk against the east wall.
Activating the draining pump chases off the Clog and unlocks the lower level of the Pump Station, accessible from the door near the pump. The last step is to head to the lower level to clear the Clog for good by attacking its tendrils, as with earlier during Directorial Override. This time, the Clog cannot attack. This will complete the mission, awarding one Threshold Remnant, one random-quality Weapon Mod, and three Ability Points.
Bug[]
It is possible to destroy the Clog without activating the draining pump by melee attacking or using Shield Barrage on the grate at the location of the Clog's tendrils. This will complete the mission, but will leave the lower level of the Pump Station inaccessible. Reverting to a prior save will reset the area.
